As stated by the agency, the United States Coast Guard is allocating extra assets to the U.S. border region with Mexico on the Rio Grande River.
The amplified operation, dubbed "Operation River Wall," will introduce more vessels on a 260-mile section of the river in southeast Texas that constitutes a portion of the U.S.-Mexico boundary to guarantee full command of the border, as per the USCG.
"The U.S. Coast Guard excels globally in tactical maritime operations and naval obstruction at sea, along our coastlines, and in fluvial settings," remarked Adm. Kevin E. Lunday, the acting commandant of the Coast Guard. "The Coast Guard, via Operation River Wall, is overseeing the U.S. border with Mexico alongside the Rio Grande River in eastern Texas."

As the Coast Guard reports, this action also stations additional tactical teams and other resources in the vicinity to challenge any illicit drug transit that arises.
Since the start of the current government, the Coast Guard has "increased threefold" its presence and patrols along the border region with Mexico, including several concentrated operations on the West Coast.
According to a March press statement, the Coast Guard has "rerouted planes, cutters, small craft, and personnel under its operational oversight to the border region with Mexico, thereby boosting the rate of unlawful immigrant detention by 75%, with many trafficking efforts still taking place each night."
