Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the necessity for the government to more proactively and methodically provide assistance to citizens who suffered the loss of their homes due to the conflict and were compelled to evacuate. He conveyed this in his nightly address.

According to the president, he conferred with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on the topic of backing internally displaced people (IDPs).

“I anticipate more profound and meaningful work from our state representatives with individuals who were rendered homeless because of the war. We are in need of tangible, efficient instruments to support displaced individuals. I await a relevant report from the government shortly,” Zelenskyy underlined.

In the past, this October, the Cabinet of Ministers approved several decisions intending to broaden programs that assist IDPs. These included further monetary payments, extended nursing aid, and the chance for short-term lodging in shelters.

Monetary Support . Individuals with IDP status still have the opportunity to obtain a regular monthly payment from the nation: UAH 2,000 for an adult and UAH 3,000 for a minor or a person with a disability. This support is supplied for the initial semester following registration, and for those particularly vulnerable – for a longer duration.

Extra Payment of UAH 2,000 . IDPs who are formally employed or have maintained income as an individual entrepreneur for a minimum of half a year can request the “seventh benefit.” For this, they must produce evidence of tax payments or a singular social contribution.

Medical Care . IDPs who have been moved from zones of hostilities or occupied areas can receive long-term medical care at no charge in medical establishments with agreements with the National Health Service. The program supports patients in reestablishing their physical and mental well-being.

Protective Shelters for IDPs with restricted mobility . These people can temporarily live in specially-designed centers for up to a year, where they are given housing, clothes, sustenance, domestic services, and toiletries.

Fresh governmental programs are created to aid displaced persons during the integration process into new societies and establish settings that support their progressive transition back to a stable existence.

As stated, an initiative for added support for frontline territories has been implemented in Ukraine. According to the initiative, an additional 100 kilowatts of power will be offered for each member of the family.
