Every third new vehicle purchased in Ukraine is an electric car
In October, cars using traditional fuel made up 48% of the new passenger car market, a decrease from over 62% in the previous year. Electric vehicles accounted for 31% of new vehicle registrations during October.
This is according to a report by Delo.ua, citing data from Ukravtoprom.
October’s Vehicle Inclinations
Experts point out that entirely electric models have emerged as the preferred choice in Ukraine, making up 31% of new car transactions in October. In October of the previous year, this figure stood at 16.6%.
In second position are vehicles powered by petrol, with their proportion reducing from 36.1% to 29.6%.
Hybrid vehicles secured 20.6% of the market share, closely resembling the 20.7% recorded in October 2024.
Conversely, the percentage of diesel-fueled vehicles diminished from 26.3% to 18.6% annually.
Cars utilizing LPG remained consistent with the prior year, comprising less than 1% of recent car sales.
Top Models
According to Ukravtoprom, the following models led in their respective categories:
- Electric – Volkswagen ID.Unyx;
- Petrol cars – Hyundai Tucson;
- Hybrid – Toyota RAV-4;
- Diesel – Renault Duster;
- Vehicle with LPG – Hyundai Tucson.
It’s worth noting that in October, Ukrainians acquired a record volume of new vehicles in the last 13 months – totaling 7.8 thousand units. The Chinese brand BYD was the most sought-after in the Ukrainian market.
During October 2025, the Volkswagen ID.Unyx electric crossover stood out as the most favored new passenger car in Ukraine, with 441 units purchased by Ukrainians.
