The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, stated that the Budapest conference, whose cancellation was announced by Donald Trump, is “most probably being delayed.” He believes that fresh penalties against the Kremlin represent “an endeavor to apply coercion to Russia,” according to quotes from Russian propagandists.
“No nation with dignity would ever act under duress,” remarked the Russian president.
Putin asserts that the new restrictive measures from the allies will not greatly impact the Russian economy. In his view, Russia significantly contributes to the global energy equilibrium, and he termed the sanctions an “unfriendly act” that does not bolster Russian-American ties.
Addressing the conference in Budapest, Putin mentioned that the summit and its location were both proposed by the US side. He added that conducting the summit without prior preparations “would constitute an error.”
“Russia’s retort to Tomahawk strikes on Russian territory will be momentous, if not overwhelming,” Putin asserted.
Previously, news outlets reported that following the implementation of US sanctions targeting Rosneft and Lukoil, Chinese state-run petroleum enterprises have halted acquisitions of Russian oil transported via marine routes. Indian refineries also plan to drastically curtail crude oil imports from Moscow. An announcement by US President Donald Trump is anticipated at 10:00 p.m.
