The account is “sleeping”, and the bank is getting richer: one of the large banks will charge 100 UAH for lack of activity on cards

The state-owned Oschadbank, which previously asked customers to withdraw funds from current and deposit accounts, has again appealed to consumers. This time, the financial institution's customers are asked to close card accounts if they are not used, as a special commission is provided for the absence of funds.

This is reported by the resource “Novyny.LIVE” with a link to the bank's information.

According to Oschadbank, according to the financial institution's tariff policy, a fee is provided for servicing an inactive account.
It is charged exclusively under the following conditions:

  • in the absence of any financial transactions with the card during the year;
  • in case of incorrect closing of the card account.

Fee amount and how to avoid charges

According to representatives of Oschadbank, citizens can avoid paying a fee for maintaining an inactive account if they perform the simplest financial transactions during the year, in particular, paying at store cash registers, replenishing the account, or transferring a minimum amount of money. In this case, the system will not perceive the account as inactive and, accordingly, will not charge a fee.

If this is not done, it is better to close the account. This can be done exclusively at the bank branch by submitting an appropriate application. It is impossible to close the card remotely. In this case, it is advisable to contact the bank branch where the account was opened or at least within the region.

According to the bank's rules, if a debt has arisen, it must first be repaid using details from another account or in cash through the cash desk (regardless of the region). The existence of a debt can be clarified at the branch or in the contact center.

As for the size of the commission, it is an approved fixed amount.

“If we are talking about debt for servicing an inactive card account, then it is provided for by the bank's tariffs in the amount of UAH 100. But if the account does not have the full amount, only the balance is debited, the account does not go into the negative,” the bank employee's explanation says.

Let us remind you that even after tightening control over transfers to bank cards, Ukrainians can increase their limits if they provide OK-5 and OK-7 certificates, tax returns, salary statements, or a certificate of volunteering.
