YouTube announced that it has paid out more than $100 billion to creators, artists, and media companies since 2021. This marked another milestone for the platform, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in April.

This is reported by Delo.ua with reference to CNBC.

According to the company, the number of channels earning more than $100,000 in connected TV views has increased by 45% compared to last year. The growth is attributed to the increasing popularity of content on big screens.

YouTube Product Director Johanna Vulic, in her address, noted the ability of content creators to “shape culture and entertainment in ways we never thought possible.”

At the annual Made on YouTube event in New York, the company also unveiled new AI-powered tools for its Shorts format:

  • automatic editing of raw videos into clips;
  • the ability to add music, transitions and voiceovers;
  • a function to convert dialogues into songs for use in Shorts;
  • integration of the latest Google Veo 3 video generator.

CNBC previously reported that Google is using a subset of YouTube videos to train Veo 3, which has caused surprise among many authors.

YouTube turned 20 in April. The platform now hosts more than 20 billion videos, from music and short clips to podcasts.

Last year, YouTube CEO Neil Mohan said the company paid out $70 billion to creators between 2021 and 2024. The amount has now exceeded $100 billion, cementing YouTube's position as one of the most profitable media businesses in the world.

We should add that YouTube has introduced new technologies for copyright protection and control over content created using artificial intelligence.
