Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has yet to speak to Mikhail Mudryk following doping allegations

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said he had not yet spoken to striker Mykhailo Mudryk since the Ukrainian was charged with violating anti-doping regulations.

The 24-year-old faces a lengthy ban after the Football Association announced charges against him on Friday.

Mudryk has not played since December last year, when he was suspended after testing positive for a banned substance.

He was last seen in public last month at the Europa Conference League final in Wroclaw, where he was attending privately.

Mudryk is banned from training with the team, which is currently competing in the Club World Championship in the United States.

Ahead of the Blues' second match of the tournament against Flamengo in Philadelphia on Friday, Maresca said: “I spoke to Misha in Poland during the Conference League final, but I haven't spoken to him since.

“To be honest, I haven't been following the news. I only found out about it last night. I have no further comment as I have no other information.”

Chelsea have made no official statement since the allegations were made public, but have previously expressed their support for the player.

Maresca added: “The last time I spoke to Misha, he seemed pretty good. I didn't notice him being upset, or at least I didn't notice him looking bad. Everything was fine.

“I don't know how he is now, but certainly in the coming days or weeks we will talk.”
