“For now, there is no work on such a project in the government, but Prime Minister (Krzysztof – PAP) Gawkowski is preparing possible projects, as you know we are thinking about serious joint investments. We need these investments and good cooperation in terms of various aspects from energy to (cooperation – PAP) military. So, in line with the prevailing fashion today, I can say that 'we will see'” – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

“Today we are dealing with certain new trends in the world when it comes to customs and tax policy, so in line with this new trend I can say – we will impose these taxes, or maybe we will not impose them,” he explained.

On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski told PAP Biznes about plans to develop a digital tax model. As he said, the project of a digital tax on revenues or profits of big tech companies will be presented in the coming months, and the funds that would support the budget from the new tax would support the development of companies and startups from the digital and technology sector and the media.

Also on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski announced that work on the digital tax model is underway at the Ministry of Digitization, due to the fact that the ministry is in constant contact with corporations and organizations related to the digital market.

Gawkowski also indicated that the digital tax could increase the state budget by PLN 1-3 billion. However, he added that final estimates should wait until the tax model is completed.
