Ukrainians can receive compensation for utility services: what to do

Despite the fact that Ukrainians are constantly “scared” by the rise in the cost of utility services, which already drain a lot of money from their wallets, the good news is that in some cases it is possible to achieve a reduction in charges.

Who and in what cases can obtain compensation?

This can be done if housing and communal services were provided of inadequate quality.

“The Law of Ukraine “On Housing and Communal Services” and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 27, 2018 No. 1145 provide for specific mechanisms for protecting consumer rights,” officials from the State Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights note.

How to act as a consumer:

Written request . First, you need to inform the service provider about the problem. The request should be sent by registered mail or delivered in person, with a receipt.

Verification. A company representative or building manager must arrive on call within 24 hours of receiving the complaint.

Claim act . Based on the results of the inspection, a document is drawn up in two copies – one is kept by the consumer, the second by the service provider. If the parties do not reach an agreement, the act is signed with comments.

Refusal to sign. If the executor did not appear or refused to sign the act without explanation, the document is considered valid if signed by at least two consumers.

Sending the deed . The document is sent to the executor or administrator by registered mail.

ADVERTISING

If no response is received within five working days, the consumer has the right to contact the territorial body of the State Service for Food, Consumer Protection and Consumer Rights Protection to protect his interests.
