The head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, who previously proposed raising the minimum pension to at least 40% of the salary, has come up with a new initiative – to increase payments to the least protected categories of the population.

“Think about it for a minute: the pension for people with disabilities since childhood is now only 2,361 UAH. I repeatedly receive questions from people about how it is possible to survive on such payments. They are not enough even for basic needs, and how can we buy life-saving medicines?” the parliamentarian writes on the social network.
According to the official, the current level of payments is insufficient to ensure a decent life.
In general, the problem of meager pensions is large-scale. Danylo Getmantsev noted that more than 380 thousand citizens survive on a pension of less than 3,000 hryvnias. At the same time, more than 3 million pensioners receive no more than 4,000 hryvnias.

Hetmantsev announced amendments to the draft Budget-2026. He proposes to set the minimum pension at 4,000−4,500 hryvnias. That is, to increase it almost twice.
Of course, the MP's intentions are noble – no one even argues with this. However, Mr. Hetmantsev calls the “detenization” of the economy a source of revenue for increasing pensions. According to the MP, billions of hryvnias that are hidden in the shadows every year should be directed to supporting pensioners who need help the most.
However, the MP does not provide any specifics about what should be done. And without an action plan, as is known, no “Cattani” will overcome the mafia system. So for now, the proposal looks more like an attempt to publicize a topic that is painful for society.

Recall, earlier Danylo Hetmantsev promised to review the minimum pension of 4,500 hryvnias.
