Recalculation of payments to working pensioners: what is important not to make a mistake

Ukrainian pension legislation provides for periodic recalculation of payments – for people who have taken a well-deserved rest and are no longer working, indexation is carried out in March, and for working pensioners, the transfer is made from April 1, however, citizens have the right to recalculation once every two years and subject to official employment.

However, as Viktor Bogdanov, a pension expert for the publication “Na pensiyi” , notes, it also happens that for people who continued to work, payments after the recalculation may not increase, but decrease.

He emphasized that when recalculating pensions, the pensioner's salary coefficient and the average salary coefficient in Ukraine are taken into account.

“If the average salary in Ukraine, as a rule, increases, then the salary coefficient of a particular pensioner may decrease. In this case, when taking it into account, the pension amount may become lower,” he explained, adding that the recipient of payments has the right to decide for himself which option to choose when recalculating payments: length of service separately or length of service together with salary.

Previously, the PFU explained that a person will not be able to retire by age if he or she does not have at least 15 years of insurance experience by the age of 65 — that is, the time when the future pensioner officially worked and paid the necessary contributions for him or her. This year, people who have acquired at least 33 years of insurance experience are entitled to retire by age 60. Next year, the requirements will be different — at least 34 years of insurance experience will be required. In the coming years, one year will be added to the required experience every 12 months.
