Over the 3 weeks of November, the popular vegetable has risen in price by almost 30 hryvnias, and since the beginning of autumn, it has almost tripled.

Vegetables, which were the cheapest food products in the summer, have been setting price records since October. For example, cucumbers have increased in price by about 30 hryvnias per kg since the beginning of November, and this is far from the limit.

According to the EastFruit project, at the end of the third week of November, there was a shortage of quality greenhouse cucumbers on the market, which was one of the reasons for the price increase. Currently, the wholesale price for them is from 85 to 110 hryvnias per kg ($2-2.6).

The reason for the price increase was also called the rapid reduction in the supply of these vegetables from Ukrainian producers. Most local greenhouse plants have actually completed the season of selling the current turnover. At the same time, despite another price increase in this segment, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are sold at least 10% cheaper than in the same period last year.

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Finance portal, the retail price of cucumbers is growing rapidly. If in October they cost an average of 114.4 UAH/kg, then on November 21 the price increased to 141.8 UAH, that is, by more than 27 UAH. At the same time, if compared with the price in September — 38.4 UAH, the increase was more than 3 times.

And this figure is far from the limit, as many experts predict a rise in the price of products, including cucumbers and other vegetables, from 10% to 25% already in December.
