Against the backdrop of the expected increase in prices for a number of products in December, potatoes are showing attractive trends: their prices began to decline this week.

The reason is that it became obvious to producers that at the previous price level, it would be difficult to sell volumes that could not be stored before the onset of frost.
Therefore, they began to synchronously lower their selling prices.

Currently, farmers in the main production regions are ready to ship quality potatoes at 7−13 UAH/kg, which is on average 14% cheaper than at the end of last week.
At the same time, owners of high-quality potatoes today prefer not to rush to sell the available volumes of products, waiting for the price situation on the market to improve.
At the same time, potato prices on the Ukrainian market are currently on average 58% lower than in the same period last year.

It was previously reported that onion prices in Ukraine continue to decline due to an increase in the supply of low-quality products that are not in active demand.
In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 0.9% in October compared to September. Year-on-year, compared to October 2024, prices increased by 10.9%.
And before that, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky stated that no shortage of vegetables is expected in Ukraine this year, the harvest is sufficient and even larger than last year. The result of this is a significant decrease in prices compared to 2024.
Let us remind you that experienced farmers advise to prepare the soil for next year's harvest right now. A mixture of dry leaves and wood ash will help in this, which will provide the soil under the potatoes with organic matter, which gradually decomposes and forms humus. In such soil, potatoes germinate faster, form strong shoots and form abundant tubers.
