It’s Harder to Guarantee No Border in Ireland Under No-Deal Brexit – MP Leadsom

House of Commons leader Andrea Leadsom said on Saturday that she is confident that with goodwill and collaboration the UK could get a Brexit deal through the Parliament on 29 March.

Andrea Leadsom said that she was deeply disappointed with the latest Brexit proposal from Brussels.

“There is still hope but I have to say I’m deeply disappointed with what we’re hearing coming out of the EU,” Leadsom said. “I do have to ask myself what game are they playing here.”

The backstop solution, which aims to avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, has been a source of concern for many UK lawmakers, as it may lead to customs checks within the United Kingdom.

The British Parliament is set to vote on May’s Brexit plan for a second time on Tuesday. The UK PM said that if her plan is defeated, lawmakers will be able to vote on Wednesday and Thursday on whether they want to leave the bloc without a deal, or ask the EU for an extension of article 50.
