High Court judge rules Rooney's lawyers did not misconduct over Wagatha's expenses

A High Court judge has found Coleen Rooney's lawyers did not commit any misconduct after allegations they “deliberately” underreported some of her costs in the high-profile libel case against Rebekah Vardy, known as Wagatha Christie.

In 2022, Ms Vardy unsuccessfully sued Ms Rooney and the case is now ongoing over the amount Ms Vardy must pay in legal costs.

In October last year, a costs judge ruled that Ms Rooney's lawyers had not committed any misconduct following allegations by Ms Vardy's legal team that they had under-reported a number of her expenses.

Ms Vardy challenged the decision last month, arguing it amounted to “serious misconduct”, while Ms Rooney's lawyers said the claim was “misconstrued”.

In his ruling on Thursday, High Court judge Mr Kavanagh dismissed the appeal.

He noted: “The appeal should be dismissed as the judge was entitled to the conclusion he reached.”
