Food, alcohol and transport: The State Statistics Service showed how inflation hits the pockets of Ukrainians

Prices for most goods in Ukraine continue to rise, leading to increased inflation. And October was no exception: during the month, prices rose by 0.9% compared to September.

The following data is provided by the press service of the State Statistics Service: consumer market inflation in October 2025 compared to September was 0.9%, compared to October 2024 – 10.9%. Core inflation in October 2025 compared to September was 0.6%, compared to October 2024 – 10.2%.

In the consumer market, in October, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.6%. Eggs and vegetables rose the most (by 11.0% and 10.4%). By the way, it was eggs that became the record holders for price increases over the year: since October 2024, prices have jumped by 45%. Fruits rose by 31.3%, and oil by 30.8%.

Prices for lard, processed grain products, milk, fish and fish products, sunflower oil, soft drinks, bread, butter, meat and meat products, cheeses increased by 7.1-1%. Prices for fruit, sugar, rice and pasta decreased by 2.6-0.2%.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.5%, which is due to a 2.2% increase in the price of tobacco products.

In the services sector, prices for restaurants and hotels rose the most in October — by 0.9%, while prices for transport rose by 0.1%, mainly due to a 0.6% increase in road passenger transport fares. Rail passenger transport fares fell by 5%.

Meanwhile, previously cheap vegetables are starting to become more expensive in Ukraine. If they have increased in price by 17% since October 2024, then, say, potatoes have “added” about 15% to their price tags since the beginning of November.
