Coldplay's Female Boss Caught On Camera Resigns After Her Hugs Go Viral

The female executive who hugged her firm's CEO at a Coldplay concert in a scene that went viral has resigned, according to media reports.

Several news outlets reported that Christine Cabot, chief human resources officer at technology company Astronomer, has left her position.

Her departure comes after the resignation of chief executive Andy Byron, who stepped down when the company said he was on leave pending an investigation.

The incident sparked a slew of memes, parody videos and screenshots of their shocked faces filling social media.

Cabot and Byron were surprised when singer Chris Martin asked cameras to scan the crowd for his “Jumbotron Song” at a concert last week at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

They were captured hugging and smiling, but when they saw themselves on the big screen, Cabot's jaw dropped, she covered her face with her hands and turned away from the camera, and Byron disappeared from the frame.

“Either they're having an affair or they're just really shy,” Martin joked in a video that quickly went viral.

When the video first appeared online, it was unclear who the people were, but internet detectives quickly figured out their names.

The company previously confirmed their identities in a statement to the AP.

Their profiles were removed from the Astronomer website, and a press release issued in November announcing her employment was also taken down.

Astronomer is a previously little-known New York-based tech company that provides a data management platform to large enterprises.

According to industry data analytics company Luminate, online streams of Coldplay songs increased by 20% in just a few days after the video went viral.
