R&B singer Chris Brown has revealed he will step “out of the cage and onto the stage” after being released on bail following an alleged bottle attack at a London club two years ago.
The 36-year-old American artist can continue his planned international tour this year, including trips to the UK in June and July, under his bail conditions, Judge Tony Baumgartner said at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday.
Brown must post £5m bail, which serves as financial guarantee for his appearance in court and can be revoked if he breaches his bail conditions.
Shortly after his release from prison, Brown posted an Instagram story about his upcoming tour.
In the post he wrote: “Out of the cage and onto the stage. Breezybowl.”
The tour will see Brown visit several regions of Europe, the United States and Canada, with UK performances taking place in Manchester, Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Glasgow.
The Go Crazy singer is accused of causing serious bodily harm to Abraham Diaw in February 2023.
He failed to appear in court for a bail hearing.
Brown must surrender his passport when not travelling and live at an address known to the court, but he is banned from visiting a nightclub, communicating with Mr Diaw or applying for international travel.
The court ordered the singer to pay £4million bail to ensure his release from prison on Wednesday, and a further £1million within a week.
Brown's next hearing is scheduled for June 20, when he will appear in the same court along with his co-defendant, 38-year-old US citizen Omololu Akinlolu.
Brown and Akinlolu are charged with the assault, which allegedly took place at the Tape club in Hanover Square, Mayfair on February 19, 2023.
Last week Manchester Magistrates' Court heard evidence that Mr Diaw was at the bar of the Tape club when he was repeatedly hit with a bottle and then carried to another part of the venue where he was repeatedly punched and kicked.
Brown was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester at 2am on Thursday by Metropolitan Police detectives.
He reportedly arrived at Manchester Airport on a private jet last week in preparation for his UK tour.
The hearing on the case is scheduled for October 24.
Brown was released from HMP Forest Bank in Salford, Greater Manchester, at 4.45pm.
The day before this moment, the prison gates opened for a silver Mercedes van, from which Brown emerged a few minutes later.
