Among the leaders in terms of growth rates is Odesa: where in Ukraine is it most expensive to rent a one-room apartment

While the British royal family is preparing to move into a new home in Forest Lodge, most Ukrainians, due to the war, have much more “down-to-earth” wishes: to rent (preferably) a one-room apartment in a more or less safe region that does not suffer from constant shelling.

And about what offers currently exist on the market, writes RBC-Ukraine with reference to LUN.

Where is the rent increase most noticeable?

Oddly enough, Odesa, which is under enemy fire almost daily, is leading in terms of the rate of increase in prices for renting one-room apartments. Thus, the cost of renting a one-room apartment in this city has increased to 13,200 hryvnias per month in six months.

The price of renting apartments also increased significantly in Ternopil (+41% — to UAH 14,800), Cherkasy (+38% — to UAH 13,800) and Poltava (+28% — to UAH 11,500) and Vinnytsia + 26% to UAH 14,500).

Cities with stable prices

At the same time, rental prices in Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv remain practically unchanged:

  • Chernivtsi — 14,700 UAH;
  • Chernihiv — 7,200 UAH;
  • Sumy — 8,000 UAH;
  • Kharkiv — 4,000 UAH.

There is no data on Kherson and the occupied territories.

But if we talk about renting one-room apartments in absolute figures, the “most expensive” cities are Uzhhorod (rent will cost 21,100 UAH per month), Kyiv (20,000 UAH) and Lviv (18,700 UAH).

Who spends the most on rent?

The largest share of income on rent falls on Uzhhorod residents — 84% of salary, Luhansk residents — 73%, Ivano-Frankivsk residents — 72%, Lviv residents — 69%, Kyiv residents — 67%. Kharkiv residents spend the least on rent — only 18% of income.

We would also like to remind you that while rental prices are rising in Ukraine, demand for new apartments remains extremely weak.
