Renault and Dacia will recall hybrid owners in September due to a defect in E-Tech Full Hybrid engines that could affect over 155,000 vehicles, reports Auto Świat, citing French sources.
The French news outlet L'Argus was the first to report on the matter, reporting that the issue affects five Renault models manufactured between April 5, 2019, and September 26, 2022.
The electric motor's shaft sealing ring was found to be faulty. This defect can lead to oil ingress and engine overheating, potentially leading to serious engine failure. This applies to the 1.6 E-Tech Full Hybrid and 1.6 E-Tech Plug-In Hybrid systems.
The engines at risk of failure were installed in four Renault models and one Dacia:
- Renault Clio (fifth generation)
- Renault Captur (second generation)
- Renault Arkana
- Renault Megane (fourth generation)
- Dacia Jogger
The worldwide campaign will launch in September, and owners of affected hybrids will be notified. Just like visiting an authorized service center, you can already check if your vehicle may be affected by the fault. According to “Auto Świat,” it's worth asking about the repair campaigns designated as 0ET1 for Renault and 0EWW for Dacia.
