Gawkowski is taking part in the SECURE International Summit in Bydgoszcz on Thursday. The event was prepared by the Ministry of Digital Affairs as part of the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union.

“The most important thing in the digital world is human cybersecurity. (…) In 2025, we will spend the most in Poland's history on cybersecurity. We are investing in military and civilian systems. Cybersecurity has become an element of hardware replacement. The law is changing. (…) We are on the verge of presenting a new digital security strategy for Poland,” said Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski.

He stressed that hybrid warfare is only a warning and that preventive conclusions must be drawn from it before a conventional conflict could occur.

“We should be convinced that cybersecurity is in each of our devices and our competences in the scope of their use. (…) Poland is one of the most attacked countries in the world in the framework of cyberattacks. Of these, 99.9% fail because they are blocked, ” said Gawkowski.

He added that cybersecurity is protection against war. “States must cooperate with each other against aggressors. It is not without reason that these are Russia or Belarus, Asian countries. The same threats as in Polish cities can also be in those much further away from the Ukrainian-Russian border. There are no small or large towns in Europe today that are free from cyber threats. The border of these attacks does not exist,” said the Minister of Digital Affairs.

According to Gawkowski, cybersecurity is becoming a key area of responsibility for the security of every citizen in Europe.

“It is the answer to how the digital economy is changing and how close the digital world is to every person today. (…) We would like the EU to speak with one voice on the dangers in the digital world,” said Gawkowski. In his opinion, member states should jointly participate in the costs related to cybersecurity.

Referring to Wednesday's attack on the offices of MPs and PO members in a later conversation with journalists, he stated that it was carried out by groups from the Russian Federation and Belarus, and that the attack was organized and planned. “We have confirmation that the action was not carried out by accident. (…) An attack, such an incident, can affect any political party, any state institution,” the deputy prime minister warned.

NASK Director Radosław Nielek emphasized that the conference has been organized for 28 years, and Poland was involved in the area of cybersecurity even before joining the EU.

“The conference has evolved along with the development of cyber threats and today serves as a key forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience. This year's conference is held during the Polish presidency and is proof that Poland is at the forefront of countries that not only recognize, but also actively respond to the challenges of the digital world,” said Nielek.
