Thirty-five Amazon and Telekom delivery vans were set on fire in Berlin on the night from Monday to Tuesday. Shortly afterwards, an unknown group claimed responsibility for sabotaging both companies on the internet, accusing the companies of profiting from the ongoing wars.
On the night from Monday to Tuesday, 18 Amazon delivery vehicles burned down in the Britz district; at almost the same time, 17 Telekom vehicles caught fire in the Lichtenberg district. Around 100 firefighters fought the fires. The police assume a political motive, which is why the State Protection Service (Staatsschutz) is investigating, the daily Die Tageszeitung reported.
On Tuesday, a text signed by the “Anti-Militaristic Action” appeared on the Indymedia internet platform. “Fences and cameras were unable to stop anti-militarists from attacking two military collaborators (Telekom and Amazon – PAP). Both companies are making huge profits from global militarization and spreading wars. Therefore, it is right to sabotage them,” reads the published statement.

The authors accuse Amazon of “active participation in war and genocide” in the Gaza Strip. They refer to “media reports (which indicate – PAP) that the Israeli army uses servers of Amazon's subsidiary, AWS, to store and process data from monitoring the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.”
The statement criticizes a skyscraper in Berlin's Friedrichshain district. The 140-meter-high Edge East Side Berlin, known as the Amazon Tower, is the tallest office building in Berlin and is almost entirely occupied by the American corporation.
Critics of Amazon Tower, including the local activist alliance Berlin vs Amazon, accuse the company and its headquarters of, among other things, causing rent increases in the area, regional portal rbb24 noted.
