This is the Train Information System application, which provides real-time train data. PKP Intercity will be able to use it free of charge under an agreement signed with RailNetEurope.

The carrier explained that the Train Information System supports both passenger and freight trains, using information obtained directly from European rail infrastructure managers. The system allows dispatchers to monitor international trains 24/7 in real time, which, according to PKP Intercity, allows for a faster response to delays, disruptions, or route changes.

“Thanks to the interactive map and rail traffic chart, dispatchers gain a complete picture of the operational situation – from the starting point to the final station – on sections outside Poland. This facilitates decision-making regarding redirections, changes in the work organization of train crews, and communication with passengers in the event of unplanned events. This makes dispatchers' work more efficient, precise, and predictable, which directly translates into punctuality and passenger comfort,” explained Intercity.

The company emphasized that the application also provides access to historical data going back 45 days; based on this information, the carrier can conduct detailed analysis of a given connection. The system is also intended to enable Intercity to collaborate more effectively with foreign partners. The system accounts for an average of 27,000 trains per day, with data provided by 25 national infrastructure managers across Europe.

PKP Intercity is Poland's largest rail operator, providing connections between major cities and popular tourist destinations in the country, as well as enabling travel across Europe. PKP Intercity trains carried 78.5 million passengers last year, which is 15% more than the previous year and 33% more than in 2022.

The company offers travel on four train categories. Your Railway Lines (TLK) and InterCity (IC) are economy connections, while Express InterCity (EIC) and the Pendolino-powered Express InterCity Premium (EIP) are express connections.

The carrier's estimates assume that this year it will increase the number of passengers carried to 88 million, and in 2030 – to 110 million. (PAP)
