Hugo Ekitikey meets new teammates in Hong Kong a day after joining Liverpool

Hugo Ekitiike met his new Liverpool team-mates for the first time in Hong Kong, arriving less than 24 hours before completing his £79million move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Final terms of the six-year deal were revealed on Wednesday evening as the French striker was already en route to the Far East.

He arrived in time to watch the team's open training session at the Kai Tak Stadium in front of 27,000 people, and at the end of the session he walked onto the pitch to greet first head coach Arne Slot and then the rest of the players.

Walking out after training to say hello to fans, he spent a few minutes chatting with captain Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

“When you look at the four senior players, the leaders – myself, Ali (Alisson Becker), Virg and Mo (Mohamed Salah) – we take on the responsibility of trying to integrate them into the team as quickly as possible,” Robertson told LFCTV.

“Especially when they come from different countries and cultures, it’s really important to get them up to speed as quickly as possible.

“On the pitch they look after themselves, they play at a very high level and that’s encouraging.

“The boys have already settled in and Hugo has just joined us, so we're going to have dinner tonight.”

Liverpool's first match of the day is against AC Milan on Saturday, but Ekitiike's participation at this stage remains in doubt.
