Facebook will begin to notify customers whose personal information may have been compromised in the scandal of the Cambridge analyst, starting Monday.
All 2.2 billion users of Facebook will receive notifications on their feeds, called “Protection of information”. It will have a link to information about which Facebook apps they use and what information they share with those apps.
In addition, 87 million to users whose data could be shared with Cambridge the analyst will receive a more detailed message informing them of that fact.
Political data analysis firm allegedly used illegal user data Facebook in its efforts to sway elections. Cambridge Analytics says it’s only ever received information about 30 million users.
