The Ministry of Finance will be open to discussion on the digital tax after the conclusion of the negotiations related to it, which are taking place in the OECD, announced Finance Minister Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.
“As the Minister of Finance, I would like entities that conduct business in Poland to pay taxes here, and this is what happens in the vast majority (of cases – PAP). At the moment (…) negotiations are underway among OECD countries concerning, among others, the digital tax, and as Prime Minister Tusk said yesterday, we can introduce this tax, we can choose not to introduce it,” Domański said.
“Those countries (…) that introduced a digital tax, did so before the negotiations within the OECD began, and later, as part of these negotiations, it was agreed that as long as these negotiations were ongoing, no new digital taxes would be introduced, but the current position of the US administration, for example, means that these negotiations may end soon and then the field for discussion on new taxes – including a digital tax – will be open,” he explained.
Domański said that Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski can work in the Ministry of Digital Affairs on sketches and proposals for solutions regarding the digital tax, but ultimately the creation of tax policy is the doctrine of the Ministry of Finance. He also added that the cooperation between the two ministries is exemplary. (PAP Biznes)
