A furry robot called Moflin has become a hit in Japan, delighting users with the ability to develop their own personality and character traits depending on how they are raised, reports the Mainichi daily. Moflin, created by Casio Computer Co., can recognize its owner and, with the help of artificial intelligence, learns his preferences through interactions such as petting or hugging.

“People feel their pets are different from others because robots, like animals, exhibit individual personality traits and emotions, and also grow and have variable sleep cycles,” notes Erina Ichikawa of Casio Computer. According to the company, Moflin has over 4 million distinct personality traits.

Ichikawa points out that the product is particularly popular among women aged 30-40 and was created with them in mind.

The robots, costing 59,400 yen (about 1,400 PLN), are also available with optional services such as fur cleaning.
