As Zlatan Ibrahimovic bids farewell to Manchester United, we take a look at his Old Trafford stay with some of his best quotes.

He added three trophies to his collection too, helping the club to the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League titles in the 2016/17 season.

“I admire Cantona and I heard what he said. But I won’t be King of Manchester. I will be God of Manchester.”

After ‘The King’ Eric Cantona said Ibrahimovic could be the ‘Prince of Manchester’ following his signing in July 2016, the Swede had a typically humble response.

“I have no individual targets because that I did already, after three months in England. I conquered England – it took three months.”

Ibrahimovic refused to set a target after his sensational start to life at Manchester United when speaking in January 2017.

“I’m an animal. I feel like a lion. I don’t want to be a lion, I am a lion… The lion is born a lion – it means I’m a lion.”

The famous ‘lion’ analogy came into play after Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Southampton in the League Cup final in February 2017, where Ibrahimovic scored twice.

“It will be put in the museum. I have a house only for the medals.”

And where did the League Cup winners’ medal end up? Ibrahimovic’s house of medals, of course, adding to the 31 he already had from his career up to that point.

“It seems that the older I get, the more intelligent I get… The game is improving, I am getting better and better and like I said, I feel like Benjamin Button – I was born old and I will die young!”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic likened himself to Benjamin Button after the Man Utd forward turned in another man-of-the-match display in a 3-0 win at Sunderland in April 2017.

“Zlatan Land Zlatan Arena Zlatan Trophy.”

“I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club’s intention for me to stay.”

Ibrahimovic signed a new deal at Man Utd in August 2017 despite remaining sidelined with a knee injury and refused to leave any unfinished business.

“He is the Ibrahimovic of martial arts… and I’m the McGregor of the football world.”

A few days later, and the Swede backed Conor McGregor to beat Floyd Mayweather in their boxing showdown, comparing himself to the Irishman.

“I will walk out just as I came in, I will not walk out limping. I will walk out the way I want to walk out. Even if I have to walk on water I will do that also.”

Thierry Henry sat down with Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and this time wasn't rudely interrupted by Paul Pogba much to Zlatan's relief!

In an exclusive Sky Sports interview with Thierry Henry in October 2017, Ibrahimovic explained how he wanted to leave Man Utd on his own terms.

“Lions don’t recover like humans. I am just thankful I am able to run, do my things, do a little bit of ‘abracadabra’ magic – things that a lion does!”

Last but by no means least, one of his most iconic quotes while at Man Utd came in November 2017 after Ibrahimovic returned to action in a 4-1 win against Newcastle following seven months out.
