Whyte vs Browne: Dillian Whyte has blasted his way into contention for big-name fights

Dillian Whyte hopes to discuss a deal for a fight with Deontay Wilder

Dillian Whyte’s destructive win over Lucas Browne could earn a shot at WBC champion Deontay Wilder, but which other opponents might be part of his plans?

The British heavyweight produced a career-best win as he blasted out Browne with a huge left hook in the sixth round at The O2.

Wilder remains the No 1 target for Whyte, although a fellow contender and some other big name Brits might be on the agenda…

Deontay Wilder

Whyte directed a passionate verbal challenge at Wilder in his post-fight interview, urging the American to make a title defence in Britain this summer.

But ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has previously dismissed Whyte’s claims to his crown, insisting he only wants a fight with fellow champion Joshua.

It remains to be seen whether Wilder could justify a big split of the purse with Joshua, who faces Joseph Parker next Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and a battle with Whyte would boost his profile on these shores.

Anthony Joshua

Joshua admitted he was interested in a rematch with Whyte, even before he defeated Browne, and their second fight suddenly seems even more enticing.

Whyte remains determined to avenge his stoppage loss to Joshua in December 2015 and wants to share a trilogy with his arch rival.

“I would like to fight Anthony Joshua another three, four, five times in my career,” said Whyte.

“[We’ve got] got chemistry. We bring a lot out of each other.

“All these fights are going to be big fights. When [we] step in the ring, there is something that just sparks between me and him. It’s like we are two lifetime lovers.”

Dominic Breazeale

The American sits just behind Whyte in the WBC rankings and the governing body could order a final eliminator between the duo.

Breazeale is known on these shores for a brave stoppage loss to Joshua, his sole defeat just like Whyte, and the two men have a similarly aggressive style.

A high-stakes battle could be an exciting prospect, although Whyte will argue he has already done enough to earn a crack at Wilder.

David Haye or Tony Bellew

If Whyte is made to wait a little longer for a world title fight, then he might turn his attention to the winner of Tony Bellew’s rematch with David Haye on May 5, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Whyte has made no secret of his dislike for Bellew, questioning his credentials as a heavyweight, while he directed a few choice words at Haye in the aftermath of his win over Browne.

David Haye was impressed with Whyte’s explosive victory

It is unclear what Whyte was communicating towards Haye, but he did earn the respect of the former world champion.

Dereck Chisora

Chisora, another domestic foe, returned to action with an eye-catching knockout of his own on the Whyte undercard.

In the days beforehand, ‘Del Boy’ had incited the Brixton man by offering his services as a sparring partner to Browne, and a simmering rivalry remains between the Londoners.

'Del Boy' demolished his opponent Zakaria Azzouzi

Whyte already holds a points win over Chisora, so might not be willing to offer a second fight to the Finchley man.
