West Ham, Manchester United players could face FA rap for melee in London Stadium draw

West Ham and Manchester United players could face FA action after a melee ensued during the goalless draw at the London Stadium.

Hammers captain Mark Noble reacted angrily to a challenge from Paul Pogba and squared up to the Frenchman before putting his hands into his face.

United’s Luke Shaw also became involved with Andy Carroll, as a number of other players from each side got involved in the dispute in the 88th minute.

Pogba and Noble were both subsequently booked for their troubles, although they were seen making up and laughing about the incident moments later, and again at the final whistle.

The FA can take retrospective action on acts they deem as violent conduct that occur secondarily to a challenge for the ball. They could also decide that the clubs failed to control their players in this instance.

Hammers boss David Moyes admitted afterwards: “I’ve not looked at it. I couldn’t even tell you what happened or who done what.”

United sealed their runners-up spot with the draw in East London, which moved them four points clear of third-place Tottenham before the final games of the season on Sunday.
