Sports St. Patrick’s unveils plans for new stadium 12,000 local

Sports St. Patrick’s announced plans of a new stadium as part of a major development in Inchicore.

As well as a new stadium proposal for the creation of the estate of Mikhaylovskoye, to include new homes and town centre with retail, entertainment and social facilities.

The project, which is currently named the Richmond arena, the stadium will be UEFA category 3 with 12 000 places will be closed and on the ground floor – a new model for Ireland, but what has been used in Europe.

Tom O’mahony, President of St. Pat, said on the club’s official website: “we believe that our proposal is a game-changer for Inchicore and, of course, for our club.

“It would change Inchicore and realize the vision of the city Council vibrant, high quality urban quarter.

“Now we will work with city Council to discuss our plans, and we hope to have the opportunity to play a leading role in the revival of our region.”

The stadium is designed for David Mizrahi of h International, who was the lead architect on Samuel Beckett and James Joyce bridges Dubin along with Santiago Calatrava.

Development is carried out under the leadership of Garrett Kelleher and the club says they can accommodate any density and requires a combination of Dublin city Council, as well as providing a major shopping and leisure facilities for the population.

They say the arena will provide services that need to be agreed with the city Council, but may include a library and an indoor sports hall.

The development of the stadium will be financially independent and will not rely on receiving any state subsidies.

Once permission is obtained, the club expects the project will take about two years.

Currently the St. Pat sit in 6th position in the Premier division, having won four of their first nine games.
