More than £277m of top-flight talent could be available for free in July, according to transfermarkt.co.uk data – factoring players from this season’s 20 Premier League clubs and newly-promoted Wolves and Cardiff.
We’ve compiled every player whose contract is set to expire – and created a standout free agent XI…
FREE AGENT XI
We’ve left out retired Per Mertesacker and Michael Carrick in our XI but Everton stopper Joel Robles claims the No 1 jersey, behind a back four of Joel Ward, Robeth Huth, James Collins and Glen Johnson.
With an abundance of midfield talent available for free this summer, Liverpool’s Emre Can provides cover in defensive midfield, behind Jack Wishere and Yaya Toure – with Santi Carzorla and Bakary Sako occupying wider positions.
With limited options for strikers, we’ve taken a punt with the aerial prowess of Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini up top.

ARSENAL
The Gunners endured long contract sagas with the since-departed Alexis Sanchez and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and will be hoping to retain Jack Wilshere, who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, Santi Cazorla’s deal is set to expire after nearly two years sidelined through injury while Per Mertesacker has retired and will become the club’s academy manager.
BOURNEMOUTH
Goalkeeper Ryan Allsop could be available on a free transfer this summer – having played for Blackpool and Lincoln City on loan this season, while Cherries graduate Baily Cargill could also leave the club.
BRIGHTON
Brighton have not confirmed their out-of-contract stars, but Tim Krul, Uwe Hunemier and Niki Maenpaa are believed to have contracts that expire in July, but the club have announced that Liam Rosenior and Steve Sidwell will leave the club.
BURNLEY
Dean Marney is Burnley’s only out-of-contract player and could leave the club after nine years at Turf Moor.
CARDIFF
Cardiff achieved automatic promotion to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship – but the Bluebirds have six players who could leave the club for free this summer.
Among those is former QPR and Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett, and Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnersson.
CHELSEA
Chelsea have not confirmed which players are out of contract in July, but stopper Eduardo is believed to be on the list.
The Portuguese has not made a top-flight appearance for the Blues, while fellow ‘keeper Matej Delac is set to join Danish side AC Horsens.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Crystal Palace have more out-of-contract stars than any other top-flight club, with £9m-rated Yohan Cabaye headlining the list.
Defenders Joel Ward and Damien Delaney could also leave for free, as could wingers Bakary Sako and Chung-Yong Lee and ‘keepers Julian Speroni and Diego Cavalieri.
EVERTON
Joel Robles was linked with a move to La Liga after Everton signed Sunderland and England stopper Jordan Pickford – but the Spaniard will be free to leave in July.
HUDDERSFIELD
Veteran ‘keeper Rob Green is out of contract this summer, while 36-year-old Dean Whitehead will take control of the Terriers’ U17 team.
LEICESTER CITY
Leicester have confirmed that Robert Huth will leave the club this summer, while reserve stopper Ben Hamer could also leave for free.
LIVERPOOL
According to transfermarkt, Emre Can is the most valuable Premier League player available on a free transfer this summer, with Juventus reportedly interested in the 24-year-old Germany international.
MAN CITY
Yaya Toure bade farewell to Manchester City fans after a 3-1 win over Brighton this month after spending eight years at the Etihad – but the 35-year-old has revealed he wants to join another Premier League club for next season.
MAN UTD
Contract talks between Manchester United and Marouane Fellaini have rumbled on for some time but the Belgian is yet to put pen to paper, while Michael Carrick announced his retirement last week.
NEWCASTLE
Newcastle have four senior players with contracts set to expire in July, including former Atletico Madrid star Jesus Gamez, Massadi Haidara, Stuart Findlay and Curtis Good.
SOUTHAMPTON
Former Nice and France U21 right-back Jeremy Pied is valued at £2.3m but could leave St Mary’s on a free in the summer, while veteran stopper Stuart Taylor will also be out of contract.
STOKE
Stoke have four players with expiring contracts, including Glen Johnson, Charlie Adam, Stephen Ireland and Jakob Haugaard – although the club have not confirmed the list.
SWANSEA
Relegated Swansea have four out-of-contract stars, headlined by £6.3m-rated Sung-yong Ki – who announced he will leave the club.
Leon Britton has reportedly been offered a coaching role at the club, while Angel Rangel and Kenji Gorre could leave the club on free transfers.
TOTTENHAM
Tottenham have confirmed they have no senior players out of contract this summer.
WATFORD
Watford have confirmed they have no senior players out of contract this summer.
WEST BROM
West Brom boss Darren Moore could lose James Morrison and Claudio Yacob for free if he fails to negotiate new deals for the pair, while veterans Boaz Myhill and Gareth McAuley also have contracts that expire in July.
WEST HAM
James Collins is yet to sign a new deal and could leave the club after nine years’ service, while 37-year-old Patrice Evra is once again available after joining the Hammers on a short-term deal in January.
WOLVES
Wolves have confirmed they have no senior players out of contract this summer.
Sky Sports contacted all clubs referenced and all lists were confirmed, with the exception of Brighton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Stoke.
