Max Verstappen has been pulled out of planned media engagements at this weekend's Miami Grand Prix due to the expected birth of his first child.
The 27-year-old driver is expecting a baby with his partner Kelly Piquet, the daughter of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet.
The Dutchman, who currently sits third in the overall Formula 1 standings ahead of the sixth round of the championship in Florida, was due to meet reporters on Thursday.
However, his Red Bull team confirmed that the reigning champion will not be appearing on track.
Verstappen was expected to be at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday for practice and sprint qualifying.
A Red Bull spokesman said: “Max will not be attending the media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby.
“Everything is fine and he will be back on track tomorrow for the race weekend.
“We will not be making any further comment at this time regarding the privacy of Max and his family.”
