Manchester United opened the summer transfer window with a bang by completing a deal for Matheus Cunha and are now targeting Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, while Bruno Fernandes has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia. How will all three fit into Ruben Amorim's side next season?

Manchester United's road to comeback has already begun.
Despite all the disappointment of last season's 15th-place finish and the lack of trophies to soften the blow, there are a few small reasons for optimism about the campaign ahead.
Matheus Cunha is already at the club after joining from Wolves, while Bryan Mbeumo is also here, opting to sign a £71m deal for United despite interest from other top clubs, which is a positive sign.

Moreover, captain Bruno Fernandes has resisted the temptation of a move to Saudi Arabia, which could have given United more funds to rebuild the squad. The project is still far from complete, but it is a good start.
“Cunha and Mbeumo have Premier League experience and are the right players,” said Gary Neville. However, that is not the only reason why they are being considered as possible solutions to United's problems.
United struggled to convert chances last season. They finished sixth for chances created but second worst for shots converted and fourth worst for shot accuracy.
Overall, United failed to score in 15 Premier League games last season – only relegated Southampton and Leicester did more – and 11 of those games were under Amorim.
They also had the second-worst expected goals record in the division, with statistics showing they should have scored at least nine more goals than their final league tally of 44.

This is where Cunha and Mbeumo can help, judging by their performances last season.
While United struggled to cope with opposition attacks, Mbeumo emerged as the league's best player in terms of xG. Using the same algorithm as the one mentioned above, the Bees striker scored seven more goals than expected, while Cunha finished third in the same category.
So Cunha and Mbeumo could bring an edge to the game that United lack, but will they be included straight away and where?
