Kerry to face Dublin in All-Ireland ladies football final

Kerry have reached the All-Ireland final with a 1-16 to 1-11 win over Mayo in the All-Ireland ladies semi-final.

Without injured captain Siofra O’Shea, were on top throughout and will now hope to go one better in two weeks and capture the TG4 All-Ireland title for the first time since 1993.

Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh produced a stunning display and scored 1-10.

Kerry’s two most influential players were central to Kerry’s 18th minute goal, with O’Donoghue fist-passing across the goal for Ní Mhuircheartaigh to palm into the net.

Kerry built up a nine-point half-time lead to leave Mayo with little chance of a revival, scoring 1-7 without response in a devastating nine-minute spell, as they took a 1-10 to 0-04 lead at the interval.

Mayo responded better in the second half as they hit 1-6 as they chased the game.

Substitute Deirdre Doherty gave Mayo a glimmer of home when she struck the net mid-way through the second half within a minute of her introduction, as Mayo got four within the lead.

However, despite their best efforts, Kerry were able to keep the scorebaord ticking and will attempt to end their drought for an All-Ireland title w=in Cork Park in two weeks time.

They will be joined by Dublin in the final, who defeated Cork 2-19 to 0-13.

In an entertaining first half, it was a back and fourth game, with Dublin leading by 0-7 to 0-4 in the first 20 minutes.

The vital moment of the first half came in the 24th minute when 1-9 to 0-4, as Dublin took the meomentum into the interval to build up 1-10 to 0-7 lead.

Dublin’s success at the middle of the pitch proved crucial, with Jennifer Dunne scoring four points from midfield, as she helped Dublin brake away from Cork

They put the game beyond doubt in the 45th minute, with Carla Rowe finishing off a team move to fist the ball into the net to give Dublin a 2-15 to 0-10 lead.
