We asked our friends at Football Whispers to scour the European media to round up the latest transfer news and big stories.

Germany

Injured in Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final first leg defeat to Real Madrid, Jerome Boateng has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United. Speaking about his future, the German international said: “I’ve experienced everything at Bayern, and I am slowly coming to a point where I must answer myself certain questions.

“What are the goals I have not reached yet? Do I, time and time again, want to prove myself at the same club with the same pre-conditions? Those are not necessarily classic questions regarding the career, but vital questions and, in the end, questions that drive people.” (Socrates Magazine)

Arsenal do not even know the identity of their next manager yet but that has not stopped the Gunners from being linked with potential summer signings. Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis is reportedly an Arsenal transfer target with the centre of defence a priority this summer. The 29-year-old would cost around €20m. (Bild)

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed the Blaugrana would like to extend the contract of Manchester United transfer target Samuel Umtiti. The centre-back has a €60m release clause at the Camp Nou which makes Barca vulnerable. “He is important for the team,” Bartomeu said. “He still has a three-year contract and we want to extend his contract with Barcelona.” (Cadena Ser)

In the same interview Bartomeu claimed he would have no issue with former Barca forward Neymar joining Real Madrid this summer. Real president Florentino Perez is believed to be keen to bring the Brazilian to the Bernabeu just a year after his world-record €220m switch to Paris Saint-Germain. “It would not be a problem for me,” Bartomeu insisted. “I like to see excellent players in La Liga.”(Cadena Ser)

Juventus boss Max Allegri, who has been linked with the soon-to-be-vacant manager’s role at Arsenal, has confirmed he will remain with the Turin side next season. “I decided my future a year ago,” he said in reference to the deal he has until 2020. (Tuttosport)

Another coach who looks set to stay put is Internazionale’s Luciano Spalletti. The Nerazzurri have been pleased with his first season at San Siro – and Champions League qualification would cap a successful year – and will look to extend his current deal until 2021 this summer.

France

Outgoing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who will leave the Gunners after 22 years this summer, has been offered the role of general manager at Paris Saint-Germain for next season.
