Terence Crawford jumps divisions to battle Canelo Alvarez for absolute super middleweight supremacy in Las Vegas; former world champion Amir Khan is the only boxer to have fought both Canelo and Crawford, and he gives his verdict on their fight.
In an interview with Toe2Toe, Amir Khan predicts Terence Crawford will defeat Canelo Alvarez in their upcoming fight on September 13.
Terence Crawford could leave a lasting legacy in boxing when he moves up to super middleweight to challenge Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed world title.
Crawford is a two-time undisputed champion, at super lightweight and welterweight. But he is moving up three divisions above his usual weight. This will be his first fight at 165 pounds. He has previously fought at 165 pounds, and has only fought there once.
However, former world champion Amir Khan, the only man to have fought both fights, believes Crawford will beat Canelo.

“I've always said both fighters are great, both are good at what they do. When I fought Canelo, he was easier to hit, he had slow feet but fast hands. I never expected him to have such fast hands. He's a very powerful puncher. That's the only thing Crawford has to worry about. Size and power,” Khan told Sky Sports News.
Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are preparing for a fight in Las Vegas.
But he added: “I saw a picture of Crawford where he was about 180 pounds. He looked strong, big, and I think he carries the weight well. He's another very strong, very powerful fighter.”
“I'm leaning more towards Crawford in this fight because he's a fresher fighter. He hasn't been in a lot of the wars that Canelo has been in.
“But listen, this is top-level boxing, so I don't know who's going to win, but I'm leaning more towards Crawford.”
“This is it”
The American knows this will be the most important tournament of his career. He believes that winning it will make him one of the greatest athletes of all time.
“This is the fight,” Crawford told The Associated Press. “The greatest fight I've ever been in.”
“Terence Crawford's legacy, you know, before the Canelo fight, he's a Hall of Famer, first ballot, period,” he continued. “Terence Crawford beating Canelo Alvarez, he's one of the greatest fighters of all time, period.”
Chris Eubank Jr says he wants to face the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford after he “beats” Conor Benn for a second time.
However, he knows Canelo will be highly motivated: “You know, he doesn’t want some smaller guy to take away his status as the undisputed champion.
“He has something to lose, I have something to gain. I have something to lose, he has something to gain.”
“It will be really cool for me to capture this victory and the scale of it.”
