Sorba Thomas believes Belgium will be “shaking with fear” at the thought of facing Wales in Cardiff.
Belgium secured their first victory over Craig Bellamy as Wales manager on Monday in Brussels, winning by an extraordinary 4-3 in a World Cup qualifier.
The Red Devils, who are eighth in the world, squandered a three-goal lead before Kevin De Bruyne saved the hosts with an 88th-minute winner.
The return leg takes place in Cardiff on October 13 and Stoke new boy Thomas commented on Belgium: “They are a top 10 team. People may say 'little old Wales' but we brought it up to their level.
“They will be shaking in their boots when they come to Cardiff to play us. We are full of ambition, we are a young team.
“I felt like when it was 3-3, we had it all in our hands. But it's a devastating game, football can be a terrible sport sometimes. (Against) 10 of the best teams in the world, and we feel like we should have come away with a win.”
Wales looked set for a night of shame when Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans and Jeremy Doku all scored in the opening 27 minutes.
