Manchester City have completed an agreement to sign French midfielder Ryan Cherki from Lyon for an initial fee of €36m (£30.5m).
The 21-year-old joins from Lyon after a successful season in which he scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists in 40 appearances.
He also made a stunning debut for France last week, coming on as a substitute and scoring in a 5-4 Nations League defeat to Spain.
Cherki has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
He said: “It's a dream come true for me. To be honest, to be able to join a club like Manchester City and take the next step in my career is something very, very special.”
“I've worked hard to achieve this all my life. I love this sport and I'm looking forward to continuing my development here in Manchester with Pep (Guardiola) and his staff.
“Everyone knows how successful City are – they have been successful for many years. I am ready to take on the responsibility to help the team continue to win.
“I would only leave Lyon for a project I truly believe in and everything at City points to me being able to develop my game and help the team achieve success in the future. I'm looking forward to showing the City fans what I can do.”
His arrival coincided with the same day City completed a deal to sign Chelsea's third-choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli and followed the signing of left-back Ryan Ait-Nouri from Wolves for £31.3m on Monday.
All three transfers were completed in time for the players to register for the group stage of the Club World Cup this month.
Director of Football Hugo Viana said: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan to City. We are committed to bringing talented players to the club and he fits that bill.”
“This is the player our scouts are after
