We look back at some of Postecoglou's most memorable moments at Tottenham.
Postecoglou replaces Nuno, who was sacked late on Monday after a split with owner Evangelos Marinakis and was understood to have wanted to be sacked.
Greek Marinakis has been an admirer of Postecoglou, whose family is of Greek descent, for some time and was quickly identified as the leading candidate to replace Nuno.
Marinakis said of Postecoglou's appointment: “We are bringing to the club a coach who has a proven and consistent history of winning trophies.
Sky Sports News' Anton Toloui explains why Evangelos Marinakis has chosen Ange Postecoglou
“His experience of coaching at the highest level, and his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and consistently achieve all our ambitions.
“After reaching the Premier League and then consistently developing the team season after season to ensure our participation in European football, we now have to make the right move to compete with the best and fight for trophies.
“Angie has all the skills and experience required to do this, and we are delighted that he will be joining us in our ambitious endeavour.”

Marinakis gave Postecoglou another chance in the Premier League and European football.
The 60-year-old is set to return to north London as soon as possible, where Forest will host Tottenham's Premier League rivals Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.
Postecoglou's first four games in charge of Forest will all be away, with his first home game not until September 27 against Sunderland (live on Sky Sports).

According to Sky Sports News, Postecoglou wants to add Michael Jedinak, Sergio Reymundo, Nick Montgomery and Rob Birch to his staff.
The former Celtic manager spent two seasons at Tottenham and ended a 17-year trophy drought last season by winning the Europa League.
However, 16 days after Tottenham won their first European trophy in 41 years, Postecoglou was sacked following the club's worst Premier League season in history, finishing 17th with 22 defeats from 38 games.
Just over a month after his dismissal, Marinakis presented Postecoglou with a special award in Greece for being the first Greek-born coach to win a European trophy in men's football.

He said: “Ange has spoken about Greece many times. It is very important for a person to be proud of his origins and to shout about it.”
He did it with a team that had not won titles and was struggling. With his success with Tottenham, he made Greece proud.
“He is a very good coach and wherever he goes, Greece will be proud of him.”
Can Ange make Forest more dynamic?

Latest from Anton Tolui of Sky Sports News:
“It is clear that Evangelos Marinakis wants Nottingham Forest to have a 3.0 rating in the Premier League.
“Steve Cooper got them on their feet, Nuno took them to Europe and now Ange Postecoglou is responsible for making this team more dynamic and successful.
“Forest spent a lot of money on strikers in the summer and now the former Tottenham manager has to unlock their potential.
“£35m was spent on Omari Hutchinson, a similar amount went for Dan Ndoye and Delane Bakwa, plus James McAtee got up to £30m, £25m went to Rennes for Arnaud Kalimuendo and Igor Jesus cost Botofogo a pretty penny.
“They have also made big signings for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White.
“Forest can easily name three different front threes capable of competing in the Premier League and Europe, now it's up to Postecoglou to deliver them.
Forest missed out on Champions League qualification by just one point despite averaging just 40 per cent possession last season, compared with only Everton and Ipswich having less possession on average.
“It will be a complete change in the way we see Forest play because at Tottenham Postecoglou didn't really want to change his playbook for anyone.
“Even when the results weren't what he expected, he was dogmatic in his system; he wanted it to continue, although the fans obviously wanted to see a more pragmatic approach.
“Postecoglou faces a conundrum: how to make the most of Forest's attacking potential.
“Also, ignore the lazy story that club owner Marinakis wants Postecoglou in his ranks because he was born in Athens.
To paraphrase The Forest's Brian Clough, Marinakis “wants to win, but he wants to win better.” He believes he has found the man who can do just that.
'The writing was on the wall': How Edu caused a rift between Nuno and Marinakis
Rob Dorsett from Sky Sports News:
In the end, Nuno got his way. Although he denied it, he wanted to be fired.
And Marinakis has now chosen a new head coach in his own image: Anze Postecoglou, a powerful man, stubborn, principled, who does not suffer fools.
Nuno had no intention of resigning, but he was fed up with life at the City Ground. Once Marinakis appointed Edu as his director of football, it was all clear.

Another rollercoaster ride from Ange awaits you in Forest?
Find out what former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou told his players before they beat Manchester United to win the Europa League. Source: Spurs Play
Postecoglou made a splash in the Premier League when he joined Tottenham in July 2023.
His free-flowing 'Angers-bol' style helped Tottenham go unbeaten in their first 10 league games of the season, including a 2-1 home win over Liverpool that put them top of the table.
His first defeat came in a chaotic 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea, where he was criticised for refusing to adapt his style of play even when the team was down to nine men, leading to his famous line: “It's just who we are, mate.”
Despite a promising start to the season, the campaign ended in disappointment, with Spurs losing five of their last seven games to finish fifth and miss out on a Champions League spot.
After a difficult start to his second season and a home defeat in the north London derby to Arsenal in September, Postecoglou defiantly declared: “In my second year I always win.”
That promise helped keep Postecoglou afloat as Spurs struggled domestically, putting them under immense pressure in late January after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened Leicester.
Injuries have famously hampered Postecoglou, who has been putting all his efforts into the Europa League in an attempt to end Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought.

And he succeeded: Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final in Bilbao.
However, Tottenham's dismal Premier League campaign, which saw them finish in 17th place with a record low of 38 points, ultimately brought Postecoglou's turbulent spell at Tottenham to an end.
Postecoglou expressed his desire to stay for another year, telling fans at the Europa League victory parade that “the third season is better than the second”.
However, then Spurs chairman Daniel Levy cancelled Postecoglou's show and he will now play at the City Ground, where he hopes to end another club's trophy drought (with Forest without a win since 1990) and also defend their Europa League title.
