Colorado springs (Sputnik) – leaders from around the world will gather this week in the small American town of Colorado springs, to discuss current space-related issues, and plans for the future at the 34th space Symposium.
The four-day event kicks off Monday with the presentation of the opening Vice-President Mike Pence. Pence is expected to make an announcement on space policy.
The space Foundation, is sponsoring the Symposium, expects more than 9,000 people from more than 40 countries, including Russia, USA, Europe, China, France, Germany, Korea and Japan to participate this year.
The space Symposium will offer presentations and panels covering all aspects of space. In addition, there will be special events and presentation of prestigious space Foundation awards.
The heads of the space agencies of the world, government officials, industry leaders and astronauts, among others, will participate in numerous discussions, panels and exhibitions.
“The Symposium program delivers exclusive networks and opportunities for interaction with influential actors in one convenient and interesting place. Lunch and dinner the Symposium will provide an additional contact with influential participants,” the event website said.
Symposium participants will have the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics, including space challenges and opportunities, strategy, exploration, the economy is in deep space, international cooperation, cyber security, latest technology trends, national infrastructure and security applications for the weather and oceans, and industry perspectives.

The Russian delegation this year will be headed by the head of the Russian space Corporation Roscosmos Igor Komarov, who will participate, the Executive Director of piloted programs Roscosmos space flight Sergei Krikalev.
Wednesday, Komarov will return to the participants of the Symposium as a speaker.
April 15, Krikalev will be a special Guest on “Yuri’s night” celebration of the first manned flight into space of Yuri Gagarin and the first flight of the spacecraft. Other famous guests at the reception will include former NASA astronauts Lt. Col. Duane “digger” Carey, Colonel mark C. Lee,R. M. Sega and Kathryn C. Thornton.
Symposium participants will also be treated more than 200 screenings of the latest space technology, products and services, with 29 participants from outside the United States, including companies located in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, according to the website.
The space Symposium takes place against a backdrop of heightened tensions between Russia and the United States.
