This week, Ukraine is completing preparations for a number of significant meetings with European allies, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, mentioning that a key result will be the signing of a fresh defense pact.

“This will be a noteworthy and, in many ways, exceptional document intended to bolster our defense strengths. Its enactment will form a component of a framework for enduring security assurances for the country and its populace. It is not yet opportune to reveal specifics, but all will be unveiled this week,” declared the head of state.

The President underscored that Ukraine and its collaborators share a joint perspective on forthcoming diplomatic measures. “We are appreciative to each ally for their backing and resolute stance. Ukraine has unambiguously expressed its inclination to conclude the conflict through political and diplomatic channels. We engaged in dialogue with US President Donald Trump and concurred that the discussion should transpire considering the prevailing front line. This mirrors the precise signal Trump publicly communicated to his associates,” Zelenskyy remarked.

He emphasized that the present combat zone could serve as an initial step for discussions. Nevertheless, Russia, he conveyed, is attempting to circumvent the diplomatic avenue. “The moment we initiated deliberations on reinforcing our prowess with long-distance weaponry, Moscow promptly abandoned engagement in negotiations. This substantiates once more: the more robust Ukrainian long-distance capabilities are, the closer peace becomes,” the president accentuated.

Zelenskyy also brought up that recent debates concerning potential deliveries of Tomahawk cruise missiles have evolved into a crucial diplomatic element. “This has demonstrated that the subject of extended reach constitutes a primary element in Russia's drive to halt aggression. We shall persist with consultations with European partners and the United States, concentrating on the advancement of long-distance air defense armaments and platforms, which presently hold precedence for Ukraine,” he concluded.

As a reminder, the leaders of Ukraine and the United States convened in Washington on Friday, October 17. The US President affirmed the necessity to cease the war without Tomahawks.
