European Council President Antonio Costa said the EU and US President Donald Trump had “turned a page” in their previously volatile relationship after agreements were reached on defence spending and trade, as well as cooperation on the future of Ukraine.

Trump returned to power claiming that the EU was created to “fool” the US and criticizing Europe for taking advantage of free US defense support and aid to Ukraine, but in recent weeks he has praised European leaders and his relationship with Brussels, the Financial Times writes.

“If you look at the situation nine months ago, in January, everyone was very scared, especially about our relationship with the United States. In the last nine months, we have managed to stabilize the transatlantic relationship. If you think back to his first statements about the European Union, it seems like it was 10 years ago. But now I think we have turned the page and now we need to build on this new stability and look forward to continuing our relationship with the United States,” Costa said.

Let us remind you that the US and the EU have already concluded an agreement, according to which the European Union will pay for 100% of the weapons and equipment, most of which will go to Ukraine. That is, the Europeans will buy weapons from the Americans and transport them to our country.
