Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said his government would increase pressure on Israel over the war in Gaza, with ships and planes heading to Israel carrying weapons banned from Spanish ports and airspace, Reuters reported.
In addition, the Spanish government will increase aid to the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Madrid will also impose an embargo on goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and ban entry to the country for anyone who directly participated in what Sanchez called “genocide.”
“We hope that this will increase the pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government to alleviate some of the suffering that the Palestinian population is experiencing,” Sanchez said.
As a reminder, the day before yesterday, people in Israel once again took to the streets to protest the war in Gaza. They called on US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and release the hostages. Hundreds of former Israeli officials also appealed to Trump to help end the war in Gaza.
What is preventing the IDF from achieving its goal, why is Netanyahu balancing between politics and military reality, and why do Trump's promises mean nothing again?
