The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, declared that there’s no prospect of extraditing Mikheil Saakashvili, formerly the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, to either Ukraine or any other nation. He expressed this sentiment in response to recent comments made by Mikhail Podoliak, advisor to the chief of the Odessa Regional State Administration, during a broadcast on Adjara’s public broadcasting channel, as reported by “Echo of the Caucasus.”

“In this instance as well, everything is quite transparent – regarding the level of integrity we’re encountering when these individuals speak. Naturally, when such figures discuss Saakashvili’s transfer, we cannot regard such communications with any seriousness,” Kobakhidze stated.

Earlier, Podoliak affirmed that the relocation of Saakashvili is “part of our plans.” According to him, active efforts are underway on the matter.

On November 13, Saakashvili appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky, urging him to add him to the roster of civilian prisoners of war arising from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The former Georgian president asserts that his prosecution and his destiny are intertwined with the war.

As a reminder, Saakashvili is presently undergoing a prison term related to four separate cases: pardoning those who murdered Sandro Girgvliani, assaulting MP Valeri Gelashvili, unlawfully crossing the border, and embezzling significant amounts of public funds. His imprisonment is scheduled to last until April 1, 2034. The ex-president of Georgia contends that these cases are politically charged.
