Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Alice Cooper honor Ozzy Osbourne at concerts

Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Alice Cooper are among the musicians who have paid tribute to the 'Prince of Darkness' Ozzy Osbourne during their live performances.

The death of the music star, the frontman of heavy metal band Black Sabbath, was announced in a release to the PA news agency, which said he was “close to his family and surrounded by love”.

His Black Sabbath bandmates Terence “Geezer” Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward also paid tribute to Osbourne, along with fans from his hometown of Birmingham and famous friends including Kiss' Gene Simmons and Queen guitarist Sir Brian May.

His death, aged 76, came just weeks after Osbourne performed a farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham – just outside the venue where the band formed in 1968.

The Back to the Beginning concert featured performances by Anthrax, Metallica and Guns N' Roses, with the closing set being Osbourne's Black Sabbath bandmates.

American pop singer Lady Gaga took to the stage wearing an Ozzy Osbourne T-shirt during her first show at the Mayhem Ball in San Francisco on Tuesday.

“We're going to miss you, Ozzy,” she said as Osbourne's “Crazy Train” played in the background.

Crazy Train was released in 1980 as Osbourne's debut solo single and was included on his first solo album, Blizzard Of Ozz.

The 39-year-old Bad Romance singer is currently on tour in the US and Canada with her latest studio album, Mayhem.
