Kylie Minogue and Richard E Grant send 'love' to actress with stage 4 cancer

Kylie Minogue and Richard E Grant have sent their warm wishes to Australian comedian Magda Szubanski following her diagnosis with stage four blood cancer.

The 64-year-old Liverpool actress, known for her roles in family films Happy Feet and Babe and their sequels, is 'hopeful' the new treatment will help her cope with the condition.

The Melbourne woman posted a message on Instagram on Thursday describing her stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma as a “rare and rapidly progressing blood cancer”.

Underneath her post, Australian singer and former Neighbours actress Minogue, who previously shared her experience of battling breast cancer decades ago, wrote: “Sending all my love” and added a heart emoji.

Grant, who starred with Szubanski in Kat and Kimderella and whose wife Joan Washington died of lung cancer, said: “We all love you so much, Mags.”

Jurassic Park star Sam Neill, who was diagnosed with rare non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2022, wrote to his Ride Like A Girl co-star: “Sending you so much healing love and hugs, dear Magda.

“You are surrounded by support and are in our hearts.”

Actress Toni Collette, known for her role in the film Muriel's Wedding, and TV presenter and singer Dannii Minogue also expressed their support.

Collette said: “Sending you so much healing love and hugs, dear Magda. You are surrounded by support and are kept in all our hearts.”

Minogue added: “We'll see you walking down the street and everyone will be waving and saying hello.”

In addition to Szubanski's post, a video also emerged in which she stated that she shaved her head “in anticipation of all her hair falling out in a couple of weeks,” which can be a common side effect of chemotherapy.

“It's serious, but I started one of the best treatments (the Nordic Protocol) and I'm lucky to have world-class care here in Melbourne,” Szubanski added.

“I'm not going to sugarcoat it: it's hard. But I'm hopeful. I have loving support from friends and family, my medical team is amazing, and I've never felt more cared for.”
