Comey admits 'mistakes' in describing Clinton's 'really sloppy' handling of info

Former FBI Director paraphrased the situation and syntax during her exclusive interview with chief anchor of ABC news George Stephanopoulos, ahead of the release on April 17 in his book “High fidelity: truth, lies and leadership”.

The roots said, people can sometimes “abuse” a secret document, but he described the former Secretary of state to use the letters as “very sloppy”.

“It was for four years, dozens of email conversations on secret topics,” Komi said in the address, Clinton e-mails. “And I think eight of the secret topics…. So, if I’m going to be honest, I have once said that it is more than ordinary carelessness.”

In a statement made on 5 July 2016, he described her using e-mail as “extremely cautious”.
First, he considered the possibility of using “gross negligence,” but Stephanopoulos said that was the “lawyer perspective”.

“My staff convinced me that it’s just confusing different people, if you start talking about laws and what the words mean,” said he. “What is a colloquial way to explain it? And elsewhere in my statement I said ‘extremely careless’. And so they said, just use it.’ And so here I go.”

He said that he will not use the words “gross negligence” if he’ll do it again.

“I don’t know what would be sitting here. [I] to find some other way to convey, because I wanted to be honest and transparent. This is not your ordinary bureaucrat, who just forgotten the one document. It was something more. But not that someone will pursue,” said Komi.

Ralph Alswang/ABC NewsABC news chief anchor George Stephanopoulos sits down with former FBI Director James Comey about the exclusive interview that will air in Prime-time “20/20” special on Sunday, April 15, 2018, on the ABC.

He said that although he regrets some of the language, it supports his idea of the severity.

“Behavior of Hillary Clinton that personal mail server was extremely careless. It was just. And if I wasn’t honest about how I achieve the goal is to show the American people this is your justice system works properly?” he told Stephanopoulos.

Taking a page from American idol, its the damage

In addition to taking criticism from different sides of the political aisle, he also received Flack from his family after 5 July at a press conference.

He told Stephanopoulos that his children told him: “You Seacrest-ed, daddy.”

“They explained to me was a link to Ryan Seacrest, TV presenter, which I think will often say-he is going to declare the result and then say, – but first, it is advertising,’” said Komi. “And what they mean, I made people wait until the very end, to say what conclusion we reached when people wanted to hear that in the beginning. And I really think that’s fair feedback.”

“I think it’s an example of my ego ritsya. What I thought I knew the best way to do this was not to give them the Title because strut ‘I was just thinking that then they will not listen to the rest,” said Komi.

In retrospect, Komi apologized for the way he treated some of the messages in connection with the investigation.

“I’m sorry that [I] ‘Seacrest-ed ad. I’m sorry I caused all kinds of confusion and pain, as I described her behavior which led the people in various side of the road,” said Clinton. “I deeply regret that I was involved in everything, but I can’t help it,” he said.

“And I’m sorry that it was not possible, especially with the second, more to explain,” he continued, referring to the Oct. 28 letter to Congress in which he announced the resumption of the investigation.

Fight requires the Grand jury and put Clinton under oath

Two interesting observations that were used by Donald trump and others about the fact that Clinton was brought before a Grand jury, or at least put under oath during her deposition. Roots Stephanopoulos said he understands why people ask, but still thinks the same way as it was made more for finding the answers they need.

“Most people were not in front of a jury. We would prefer the subject of the investigation to do an informal interview. Much more flexibility there. You can bring more people and more people participating in the survey. And it gives us the opportunity in a more informal setting, to poke someone,” said Komi.

He also noted that while much emphasis on the desire to be formally under oath, he said that is not necessary.

“It’s still a crime to lie to the FBI and Federal prosecutors, is whether or not you are under oath. It doesn’t matter. If you knowingly speak a false statement to the FBI, Martha Stewart, as David Petraeus has done, like many others, you will be held accountable for it. No matter, you are under oath or not,” said Komi.

Another point of criticism is the fact that the Komi Republic dismissed was talking about how Clinton and her team destroyed their blackberries and sour soap-server, which some, including trump, implied has been made to cover his tracks. Komei saw it more as a standard form of digital control.

“I think that enough people do to make sure that if [BlackBerry] resold, someone don’t end up with your information,” said Komi.

“They used the program to clean the server, to make sure there was nothing on it, or clean the laptops to make sure that there is nothing on them. They’ve done it. But as investigators, our question is, when they did, they are trying to obstruct justice in some way? And we never could establish a … proof that whoever did that did it with selfish intent. And most importantly, no indication that Secretary Clinton knew what was happening, and knew that it was an attempt to obstruct justice,” he said.

There is no direct interaction with Hillary Clinton

Despite the number saying that Komi and Clinton did about each other during the elections and after its defeat, they have never met in person, roots said.

“I’ve never met her,” he said, adding that while he worked on the whitewater case during the Clinton administration, his “the meeting was very limited.”

Still, the roots described Clinton Stephanopoulos, it seems “very smart person” and “very hardworking.”

He says that sometimes the perception of what the FBI Director and one of the reasons why he was not alone in the interview Clinton directly is overhyped in pop culture.

“Only on TV-Director of jumping out of helicopters and conducting interviews. My job is to make final decisions. A Pro will do the interview, the agents that actually investigated it and crawling around in her life for a year. And that is as it should be,” Komei told Stephanopoulos.

Comparing the Clinton scandal Petraeus

The fact Clinton came into the public eye a year after General David Petraeus has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for mishandling classified information in 2015.

Komi said Stephanopoulos, however, that he did not believe that the fact Clinton was comparable.

“Well, it’s David Petraeus was, in my opinion, do not close the case,” said Komi. “He was CIA Director. He had a romantic relationship with a woman who also was the author going to write a book about him. “

Komi added that Petraeus was taken home and kept notebooks filled with state secrets, including interviews with then-US President Barack Obama.

“And he gave these notebooks with this person, don’t need to know or proper clearance,” Komi added. “And it really allowed her to photograph the pages containing sensitive information. And then, when the FBI questioned him about it, he lied.”

Petraeus, former CIA Director, had committed obstruction of justice, said Komi Republic.

“It was not,” said Stephanopoulos, noting that he believes Petraeus should have been prosecuted for lying to the FBI, too.

The roots said the big difference between the cases of Petraeus and Clinton is that the roots from the very beginning knew about the latest investigation that Clinton is unlikely to be prosecuted.

He said that his critics, including trump, who said that such allegations indicate that he anticipates the case, “wrong”. He added that the investigators know that the Ministry of justice will pursue.

“They will pursue those cases, as David Petraeus. But they are very unlikely to take the case to court if you can show man like Petraeus, clearly know what they are doing, what not to do,” said Komi. “There is evidence of obstruction of justice or of disloyalty to the United States.”

Case Clinton does not rise to that level, said Komi Republic.

“Carelessness-even sloppiness to the extreme — is carried out through administrative discipline,” he said. “Someone was not pursued.

“And I went through 50 years cases. I don’t know of a case where someone was prosecuted for careless, even very casually”, he added.

“And so investigators knew that if they found something that was the Smoking gun when someone told Secretary Clinton, “you know, You shouldn’t do this,” or she acknowledged it or where … is a reference to its obstruction of justice, the case is unlikely to be prosecuted,” he said.
