Former first lady Barbara Bush dies at 92

Former first lady Barbara Bush, 92, died on Tuesday evening, according to the office of ex-President George H. W. Bush.

Bush reportedly was in failing health, and the office her husband made a statement this weekend indicate that former first lady has “decided not to seek additional treatment will be aimed at comfort care” after a series of recent hospitalizations.

“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush was a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for myself — thanks to her strong faith — but for others,” the statement reads. “She is surrounded by family, she worships and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers it gets.”

Bush was widely admired matriarch of one of the most famous political families of America. Barbara and George Bush Sr. was married for 73 years and are the parents of former President George W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

Bush was a passionate champion of literacy, because it was in the White house and throughout his life. “I have the best job in America,” she wrote in a 1994 memoir about her time as first lady. “Every day was interesting, useful and sometimes just fun.”

In a statement, former President George W. Bush said, “my mother kept us on our toes and made us laugh until the end. I was lucky that Barbara Bush was my mother.”

Jeb Bush said that he was “only after the son of George Bush and extremely kind, communicative, cheerful, funny, loving, cool, intelligent, elegant woman who was the force of nature known as Barbara Bush.”

The news of the passing of Bush was met with an outpouring of memories and support for his family.

President Donald trump and the first lady Melania expressed his condolences in a statement. Former first lady, mentioned that will “long be remembered for her devotion to country and family that she is invariably well served”.

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama said that Bush is a “humility and decency that reflects the American spirit.”

Former President bill Clinton and former Secretary of state Hillary Clinton called the former first lady as “a fierce and feisty in the support of family and friends, their country and its cause.”

Other politicians and prominent public figures in the United States and around the world, said former first lady’s life and achievements.

The Bush funeral will be held in the Church. Martin in Houston, Texas, where former first lady and her husband were parishioners, according to ABC news 13. Public visiting will be held on Friday in Houston, then the service on Saturday.
