11 House Republicans call for prosecutions of Clinton, Comey, Lynch, and others

Eleven Republicans Ron DeSantis, Andy Biggs, Dave’s brother, Jeff Duncan, Matt gaetz, Paul Gosar, Andy Harris, Jody Hice, Todd Rokita, Claudia tenney, and Ted Yoho — have signed a joint letter to the attorney General Jeff sessions calling for the criminal responsibility of Hillary Clinton and other Obama appointees, career, FBI officials, and even trump appointee Dana Boente, who is currently the FBI’s General counsel.

Leadership the letter States that the authors “especially given the diverse degree of activity which was marked by the investigation of former Secretary of state Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald trump, respectively.”

Clinton was, of course, carefully researched several committees of the U.S. Congress and the FBI. House majority leader Kevin McCarthy went so far as to admit at one point that only the actual appointment of the Clinton investigation was hurting its poll results, and although the FBI investigation acquitted Clinton, then-FBI Director James Comey suggested against DOJ recommendations, several copies of the public comments on her behavior, which ultimately damage her campaign.

However, Republicans suggest that she should be prosecuted on the theory that, since Steele dossier was paid partially, a lawyer who worked for the Clinton campaign, the campaign was to “disguise payments for the synthesis of SBS” in such a way that violated the Federal campaign Finance law.

But the question here is, to be clear, this is not a special zeal for the law on financing of election campaigns. This is a broad ask full force of the US government to be brought to bear against political enemies trump. They want the prosecution not only Clinton, but also:

  • Ex-FBI Director James Comey (for what they claim to be a politically motivated prosecutions of Clinton, as well as for alleged unlawful act runs its own notes to a friend)
  • Former Deputy Director of the FBI’s Andrew McCabe (of the same “lack of candor” that was the reason for taking away his pension)
  • Former attorney General Loretta Lynch (do not pursue Uranium one transaction)
  • FBI agent Peter Strzok and the DOJ lawyer Lisa page (allegedly interfering with Clinton’s e-mail investigation)
  • Separately, it requires criminal prosecution of “all of the Ministry of justice and the FBI employees responsible for signing Carter page decision,” which is the root and McCabe plus a former Deputy attorney General Sally Yates plus a former U.S. attorney (and current FBI General counsel) Dana Boente allegedly violating page civil liberties.

The point here is, of course, almost creates no actual prosecutions so much as it is trying to stir up trouble in the media — create a two-way battle between him and the “deep state” of enemies, and not the reality that the trump investigation has led almost all Republicans and career civil servants.

But it is also an important pointer of where we stand in terms of the relationship of the trump in the Republican party in Congress. On policy issues, trump largely took the form of Paul Ryan. In exchange, the major GOP leaders like Mitch McConnell denied legislation that would stop trump fired Robert Mueller, while the figures, which, as the signatories of the letter, trump persuaded him to go ahead and connect the politically motivated prosecution of the opposition party.
